Maegan got her certification to be a crisis and a trauma intervention counselor from the New York Department of Health in 2008. She was a volunteer first responder for Domestic and Sexual Violence victims that were in the ER at Mount Saini Hospitals in NYC. She has advocated and mentored on over 150 cases throughout her time as a volunteer. She has done public speaking at City Hall in Manhattan, focus groups at the Manhattan District Attorney's office to talk about the treatment of survivors and what they experience once leaving an abuser. Maegan received The Lydia Martinez Multi-Disciplinary award in 2011 given by The New York Alliance Against Sexual Assault and the Joyful Heart Foundation for outstanding service as a volunteer advocate. In 2019 Maegan started her YouTube channel The Divine Self to educate survivors of narcissistic abuse after she escaped her own domestic violent and narcissistically abusive relationship. After receiving over 250 emails from survivors all over the world, Maegan decided to take action and her knowledge from being an advocate, a survivor and public speaker to being a coach. Maegan helps people see the toxic cycles and patterns in their life and begin to take their power back one step at a time. In 2020 Maegan launched The Secret Garden podcast to give survivors more tips, tools and stories to begin to close that cognitive gap that keeps them from seeing their reality of abusive relationships in their life. |
